The BSC prides itself on quality sailing instruction. With a variety of backgrouds, all instructors at the BSC share a love of sailing and a talent to teach.

During the off-season Ken works in our boatyard repairing and preparing the boats for the upcoming season. When he is not at the BSC, Ken is an avid racer of Lasers and Finns, and in 2005 was ranked among the top ten US Finn sailors.

He has been an avid sailor since his childhood in Dublin, Ireland and each summer balances working at his full time job as a consultant with working at the Sailing Center. Norman Martin
Norm has been working at BSC since 1995, when we were a small school on an old pier. He participated as things changed with the arrival of the Riverboat. As the center continued to grow, Norm began to teach more and more of our Cruising and Coastal Passage Making courses.  Members always remember Norm’s devotion to our C&C 38, Melissa, on which he has made almost 100 cruises.  He has spent 4 years as a racing yacht and charter yacht skipper in the Caribbean. Clearly, Norm loves to teach cruising courses and is one of the best instructors anywhere.  When not teaching, Norm can often be found racing and cruising his own Aphrodite 101 sloop.

Mike Pingpank
Mike, hailing from Farmington, Connecticut, has been at the BSC for almost eight years. Impressive. He taught sailing on Lasers and Sunfish for eight years, retired early, and has since sailed in Ireland, Scotland, the Grenadines...and Connecticut. Mike dabbles in every aspect of the BSC, from Frostbite racing to being our resident bartender at the Reggae Party. When not sailing, Mike enjoys skiing and resting on his laurels for being the only Parrothead on staff.

Meghan Lucy
This is Meg's second summer as a full-time instructor of Learn to Sail and Advanced at the BSC. As a kid, she grew up in the Manchester Sailing Association and was involved in many of the junior regattas. Most recently, she graduated from Connecticut College where she sailed on the sailing team and participated in SEA Semester on the Tall Ships. This summer she looks forward to working with the students and getting out on the water as much as possible.
